Teaching Saturdays 10AM Yoga

Join Carolyn Saturdays 10:00-11:30AM at The Yoga Fusion Studio in Chevy Chase MD for a dynamic and evolutionary yoga flow class. 

Class Description:
This 1.5 hour class will be taught in the Prana Flow ® Yoga style.  Prana Flow ® Yoga is an energetic, creative, full-spectrum approach to embodying the flow of yoga cultivated by Shiva Rea and the Global Vinyasa Collective of Teachers.  Students of all levels are empowered to experience prana – the universal source of breath, life-energy and conscious intelligence – as the navigating source of yoga practice and vital living.  Experience innovative approaches to vinyasa yoga and the state of flow within the rhythm of class. 

All classes will be held at The Yoga Fusion Studio - 4609 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. (Special Introductory Offer: $10 for 10 days)

Meet Your Instructor:
Carolyn Butcher found yoga as an evolutionary way to build strength, increase flexibility, reduce stress, and create healthy life balance. She is a certified and registered yoga teacher (RYT) and is continuing studies with master vinyasa flow teacher, Shiva Rea and the Global Vinyasa Collective of Teachers toward completion of her 500 hr certification in Prana Flow ® Yoga.  Carolyn holds a BA in Psychology, MS in Leadership, and is a certified and accredited coach focusing on transformation, career and life transitions, self-discovery, and leadership development from within.  Carolyn’s hope for her clients is that they learn, have fun, play, grow, let go, and integrate this practice of yoga as a living flow to experience greater harmony, balance, peace, and presence in everyday life.

In our fast paced world, we often live from the ‘shoulders up’ - not feeling fully connected with our daily experience. Anxiety, memory, sleep issues are common complaints from this way of being, while a desire to be more grounded, fully present and connected to day-to-day experience are common wishes. In this session, you will learn to identify your ideal routine and flow, create balance in the body, ground and balance yourself to effectively manage stress and overcome ego challenges and self-sabotaging behaviors. Visualization, meditation, discussion and gentle movement exercises will be offered to support you in this practice of grounding and discovery.

A lifetime of sensitivity to life’s challenges, disappointments, and stress can teach us to shield our hearts for protection. We end up limiting ourselves from fully experiencing the richness that life has to offer and the beauty within. Create the space needed to turn away from the busy-ness, tune into your heart, and learn how self-love is the foundation for receiving balance, peace, and success on all levels. In this session, you will learn energetic and meditative exercises to transform limiting beliefs and inherited familial patterns as well as use inquiry, reflection, and movement exercises to open and re-connect to your heart.

Once you are fully committed and walking your life’s journey with an open heart, it is time to create possibilities and bring your brightest vision into being. In this session, you will learn to fully let go of self-limiting beliefs and step into and surrender to pure potential. Through the technique of visioning and tapping into the power of your subconscious, you will learn to draw on your creative potential and the support that is always available to you. You will learn to work with tools such as dream boarding and shamanic journeying for embodying and manifesting your dreams and gaining access to your highest self.

Summer Reading Club - Final Session Aug 15th!

During this workshop we will explore the intersection of poetry and yoga. Yoga as a living flow and poetry as the language of the soul.  You are welcome to bring one of your favorite poems - an original or by your favorite poet.  We will recite and reflect on works to fuel discussions about life’s flow, courageous conversations, and steps we can take to live fully and lead from the heart.

Additionally, our summer reading series has a focus - Service!  We have chosen Citizen Effect as our charity of choice. All class fees ($10 minimum donation) will in turn be donated to Citizen Effect to serve communities in need.

A Journey of Self Discovery -  begins Sept 12th!

This series of master classes is designed to introduce you to the leadership awareness practice of inquiry and self-knowledge (that’s Svadhyaya in Sanskrit) through the experience of questioning, writing, peer coaching, and experiential exercises.

Citizen Effect 30-Day Challenge begins July 1st!

The DC yoga community is coming together over one incredible cause, building a foster home for children in South Africa. The goal of this movement is to raise $25,000 to match the funds already contributed by The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. The total money raised will support a local NGO in South Africa dedicated to caring for orphans, abandoned and vulnerable children.

How It Works:
